The Langmuir- Blodgett (LB) technique is one of the most promising methods for the preparation of thin films as it enables (A) precise control of the monolayer thickness, (B) ….

The amphiphilic and biocompatibility of polypeptides make it has natural advantage in self-assembly at the air-water interface. In this work, the self-assembled films of palmitoyl pentapeptide-4 (PP4) and dye molecules were prepared by Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) technology. It was found that the PP4/dye composite film had good acid-alkali gas response. However, commercial and military uses for the Langmuir–Blodgett film were found almost immediately, attracting attention beyond the scientific community due to its real-world applications.here, K is surface concentration-dependent affinity parameter. Also, b is a parameter, which accounts for the changing energies of adsorption due to the change of surface coverage. If b = 0, K = K L, and Eq. (6.30) becomes the Langmuir isotherm. The modified Langmuir isotherm of Gu et al. is capable to model a wide variety of isotherms systems. Fig. 6.3 …

Jan 15, 2023 · Almost all Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films were prepared with the classical Langmuir film balance, developed more than a century ago. To date, the success of the classical Langmuir film balance and the LB transfer technique is primarily restricted to the study of self-assembled monolayers at the air-water surface. Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films, SAM and films formed by chemical vapour deposition (CVD) have been used as two-dimensional matrices for molecular imprinting. These molecularly flat films offer a greater level of control over material structure, compared to three-dimensional matrices, due to the high orientation of the film structure [6] .Kibron Inc. manufactures state-of-the-art tensiometers, langmuir-blodgett troughs and customer specified surface chemistry equipment and screening technology to overcome today’s challenges in chemical industry. Oct 30, 2020 · Here we applied the Langmuir-Blodgett technique to align ZnO nanowires between electrodes being two microns apart in a configuration that possess both the quality of single nanowire devices and the advantages of multiple nanowires. We achieved alignment without using lithography, so the procedure is inexpensive and scalable. In the present work, we have combined surface chemistry and the self-assembly of amphiphilic block copolymers to produce a homogenous block copolymer TSSBM by consecutive Langmuir-Blodgett (LB ...The Langmuir-Blodgett fabrication technique is favourable for practical application since it is compatible with a wide range of substrate materials over broad areas. Irving Langmuir (1881–1957) and Katharine Burr Blodgett (1898–1979) collaborated at the nanometer scale, studying films that were just one molecule thick, but their accomplishments were anything but minuscule. Langmuir received a Nobel Prize for his research. With this in mind, this review discusses materials nanoarchitectonics for two-dimensional films. As major methods, the Langmuir–Blodgett (LB) method and the layer-by-layer (LbL) assembly are first focused.Substrates can be dipped in either a vertical or horizontal geometry. The Langmuir-Blodgett trough can also be used without the dipper for a variety of experiments where monitoring and control of surface pressure of monolayer films is needed, such as enzyme kinetics or monolayer hydrolysis.
