At the time Cub Drive System Fluid Plus was made by Shell oil and called TTF-SB by them (tractor transaxle fluid, synthetic blend). I have known guys to run the equivelant of John Deere Hy Guard, this type fluid can be found at many farm stores, just look for the mention of JD Hy Guard on the back of the label.Typically many transmission oils are only 10 to 20w.
