It looks like the spring is so stout that it kind of short-strokes the ejection cycle and it doesn't quite have enough momentum going forward to completely return ... .

Canik TP9 SC failures. I recently got my Canik TP9 SC and have experienced 2 failure to fires in just 125 rounds, and 3 failure to eject. By comparison I have experienced only 2 failures on my Sig P365 XL (ejection issues) after 800 rounds including over 400 steel cased 114gr 9mm.
