I removed the carb, pulled off the bowl, main jet assembly, slow jet, pilot screw (which was 4 turns out)float & needle along with the air cut off valve. Everything was cleaned and blown off with compressed air. However, this did not cure my problem. Likely still crap in the carb preventing the float needle from seating. I’d do it now but it’s all ripped apart in my grandmas barn lol. Put the car in gear and apply slight load, (AC on) and set the Idle as you like it. Don't set it too high, as this will cause causes excessive clutch and brake wear. The Idle only needs to be 7 to 900 RPM with light load or AC on. Recheck timing and vacuum hook ups. Recheck mixture screw to lean best idle again.400ex valves tapping bad, help. ...
